Jared Leto Denies Sexual Assault Allegations in BBC Documentary
Jared Leto broke his silence following the release of a BBC documentary that brought new allegations to light.
The Oscar-winning actor and lead singer of Thirty Seconds to Mars denied all sexual assault claims in a statement shared through his representative.
Leto stated, “I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my life. These allegations are absolutely and categorically false.”
10 Women Speak in the Documentary
The BBC documentary titled Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret features a total of 10 women recounting incidents they claim to have experienced with Leto. It is noted that nine of the women are sharing their allegations publicly for the first time.
Four women make allegations related to actions they say occurred during their youth that could potentially constitute crimes. These incidents are said to have taken place between 2002 and 2016, when Leto was in his 30s and 40s.
Two of the women claim they were sexually assaulted at the age of 17 or had sexual encounters with Leto. Another woman alleges she was threatened with sexual assault at 19, while another claims to have received sexually explicit phone calls and messages starting from the age of 16. All these accounts are allegations and have not been verified by a court.
BBC Announced It Has Accessed Supporting Materials
The BBC reported that some of the incidents recounted by the women have been corroborated through interviews with family members and friends who were aware of the events at the time.
The broadcaster also stated that it examined photographs and messages related to some of the accounts. The documentary includes testimonies from two individuals who worked with the Thirty Seconds to Mars team, claiming that staff were uncomfortable with Leto's relationships with young fans.
The fact that the BBC has reviewed materials does not mean that the allegations have been confirmed by a judicial decision. CBS News also specifically stated that it has not independently verified the allegations.
Leto Made a Statement After the Documentary Was Released
In its initial report, the BBC noted that questions directed at Leto were not answered prior to the documentary's release. The actor's representative later conveyed the same brief statement to publications such as People, Variety, and Entertainment Weekly, completely denying the allegations.
Leto's statement does not address each allegation made in the documentary individually. The actor has denied all sexual assault claims in a single statement.
No Criminal Case Filed Against Him
The legal status of the allegations in the report is separate from the claims made to the public.
As of the publication date, there is no criminal case filed against Jared Leto related to the incidents described in the documentary, nor has there been any formal charge brought against him. CBS News also reports that no criminal charges have been filed against Leto based on these allegations to date.
Therefore, the accounts in the documentary do not represent confirmed crimes through investigation or court ruling; they consist of allegations conveyed to the BBC that Leto has openly denied.
He Had Previously Denied Allegations
In a separate report published in June 2025, nine women had also made allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior against Jared Leto. At that time, Leto's representative denied the allegations and argued that some accounts were demonstrably false.
The BBC's new documentary, unlike previous accounts made public, brings together interviews with 10 women, statements from former employees, and messages and photographs that the broadcaster claims are supportive.
However, Leto has not changed his stance with his latest statement. The actor firmly denies all sexual assault allegations. It remains unknown at this stage whether any legal proceedings will be initiated regarding the allegations.
