James McAvoy's 83% Rated Horror Thriller Leaving Peacock
Collider
James McAvoy is an actor who has proven himself by portraying a wide variety of characters throughout his career. After starting his journey with films like Atonement and Wanted, he stepped into the superhero world by playing Charles Xavier in the X-Men series. However, like Leonardo DiCaprio, McAvoy has continued to showcase his talents across different genres without being limited to just one type of character. The thriller-horror film Speak No Evil stands as the latest and most impressive example of McAvoy's broad acting range.
McAvoy's journey into complex characters began with M. Night Shyamalan's Split and continued with a monstrous Scottish detective role in Filth. Speak No Evil is a film directed by James Watkins, set to be released in 2024. Watkins is a successful filmmaker known for working with Daniel Radcliffe in The Woman in Black and gaining recognition with Eden Lake, and he is soon set to direct a Clayface film in the DC Universe.
In the film, McAvoy plays a man who invites unexpected guests to a rural home with his wife. When the guests arrive, hidden secrets begin to surface. Speak No Evil is a remake of the 2022 Danish original film, and both films hold an 83% rating classified as "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes. The consensus from Rotten Tomatoes states: "With a sickly suspense created by the look in James McAvoy's eyes, Speak No Evil is one of the rare remakes that silences the anxiety of 'we've seen this before.'"
The film, which also features Scoot McNairy, Mackenzie Davis, and Aisling Franciosi, has been commercially successful, grossing $77 million worldwide. While achieving this, the film's production budget was only $15 million. Speak No Evil is currently available on the Peacock platform and will be removed on June 6. We recommend that film enthusiasts watch it before this date.
