Everyone loves a heist thriller, perhaps because deep down we enjoy the idea of stealing a large sum of money and escaping with it. However, a true heist thriller cannot be a simple story; it requires a bit more depth. This is a perfect example of that idea. Twenty years after the premiere of one of the most layered crime films of the 2000s, audiences are once again preparing to discover whether crime truly pays off.

Inside Man returns to Netflix starting June 1, offering viewers the chance to either watch Spike Lee's $186 million heist thriller again or experience it for the first time. The film revolves around a group of bank robbers executing a daring heist on a bank in Wall Street, but everything is not as it seems. The story follows an NYPD negotiator trying to understand what the robbers want, a mysterious fixer who steps in to protect a dark secret connected to the bank's owner, and three characters who are the masterminds behind the heist. This story, which appears simple at first glance, contains so many surprises and twists that you'll never be able to predict its direction. Even the hostages are part of the plan.

In Inside Man, Denzel Washington (Training Day) stars as Detective Keith Frazier, Clive Owen (Children of Men) plays the mastermind Dalton Russell, Jodie Foster (The Silence of the Lambs) portrays the fixer Madeleine White, Christopher Plummer (Knives Out) is bank president Arthur Case, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) plays Captain John Darius, Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) is Frazier’s partner Detective Bill Mitchell, and Kim Director (Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2) appears as Stevie from Dalton’s crew. This film offers viewers a multi-layered experience, successfully rewarding careful watching and punishing assumptions.
