'I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning', directed by Clio Barnard, won the Audience Award in the Directors’ Fortnight section of the Cannes Film Festival. This award is given to the film that receives the most acclaim from viewers, marking another significant step in Barnard's career.

The film tells the story of five working-class friends who grew up together in an apartment in Birmingham. As Patrick, Shiv, Rian, Oli, and Conor reach their 30s, they are moving in different directions in life. During this process, their paths to the future are increasingly restricted. This situation offers viewers a profound look at youth, friendship, and the struggle for survival.

The Audience Award is supported by the Fondation Chantal Akerman, established in memory of French director Chantal Akerman. The award comes with a cash grant of 7,500 Euros (approximately 8,700 Dollars) for the winning film's director. While this award marks a significant milestone in Barnard's career, it also creates a notable impact in the film industry.

Barnard is a director who has previously won an award at Cannes for 'The Selfish Giant'. 'I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning' is adapted from Kieran Goddard's novel of the same name, with the screenplay written by Enda Walsh. The film features actors such as Anthony Boyle, Joe Cole, Jay Lycurgo, Daryl McCormack, and Lola Petticrew.
