Halloween and Goodfellas Actor Beau Starr Passes Away at 81

Beau Starr, the renowned actor from the Halloween franchise, has passed away. Starr was 81 years old. His brother Mike reported to TMZ that the actor died of natural causes on Friday, April 24, in Vancouver, Canada.

Before entering the entertainment industry, Beau Starr played as a professional football player for the New York Jets, Montreal Alouettes, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He made his stage debut in a play at the American Theater of Actors in 1980 and earned his first television credit in the production Bizarre in 1979. Following that, Starr worked on both television and film projects, appearing in the 1983 episode of Three's Company, Steve Martin's comedy film The Lonely Guy, The A-Team (1983-1985), The Fall Guy (1983-1986), Fletch (1985), and a segment of Highway to Heaven in 1988.

Starr made his mark in the Halloween universe by portraying Sheriff Ben Meeker in Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers, released in 1988. He later reprised the same character in Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers. In the 1990 Oscar-winning film Goodfellas, he played the father of Henry Hill, a character portrayed by Ray Liotta. Christopher Serrone, who played young Henry in the film, shared a tribute to Starr on Instagram on Saturday.

Starr's acting career includes many significant productions. He starred in NBC's crime drama True Blue, appearing in all 12 episodes. Other projects with credits include 2000 Malibu Road, Bad Blood, Speed, NYPD Blue, Leap Years, Doc, Final Days on Planet Earth, and Psych. Director Christopher Serrone stated in the press that Starr was "a man who lived a rich and meaningful life, a son, brother, father, grandfather, actor, and NFL/CFL player," honoring him with respect.
