Kit Harington, after bringing George R.R. Martin's fantasy novels to life in HBO's Game of Thrones, is set to star in the latest adaptation of Charles Dickens' classic work A Tale of Two Cities this summer. The four-part series produced by BBC and MGM+ features the award-nominated Harington alongside As Above, So Below star François Civil, portraying lookalike characters Sydney Carton and Charles Darnay, a common lawyer and a French gentleman brought to trial. Despite their differences, this tale will explore the timeless story of love, triumph, and tragedy as their fates continuously intertwine.

A Tale of Two Cities is set in London in 1728, where tensions have reached a boiling point due to the war between France and England. At the center of the story is Lucie (Mirren Mack), who receives life-changing news that her father, long thought to be dead, may actually be alive. She sees her only hope of finding him in the imprisoned and endangered Darnay. Lucie hires Carton to defend Darnay in court, hoping to lead him to the City of Love. This partnership ignites an intense love triangle as both men vie for Lucie's affection, creating an inevitable connection between them.

While Harington is known for his role as Jon Snow, he brings a wealth of experience from Industry to Pompeii and Apple TV's Extrapolations to portray this layered character in Dickens' work. Exclusive footage showing Lucie's shocking moment as she holds the letter detailing her father's fate reveals the significance of this moment and her hope of finding and reuniting with him. The scenes are rich in color, indicating that a visually and narratively compelling version of the classic novel will be presented.
