FX has greenlit the 'Very Young Frankenstein' series and is heading to Transylvania. Inspired by Mel Brooks' classic film 'Young Frankenstein', this comedy series has been in development for about a year and was ordered for a pilot episode last September. Brooks is among the executive producers of the series, while stars like Zach Galifianakis, Dolly Wells, and Spencer House will take on leading roles. 'Very Young Frankenstein' will be available on FX and Hulu platforms.

Stefani Robinson (Atlanta, What We Do in the Shadows), who wrote the pilot episode, and director Taika Waititi are also among the executive producers alongside Brooks. Additionally, Garrett Basch, Brooks' production partner Kevin Salter, and 'Young Frankenstein' producer Michael Gruskoff are involved in the project. 20th Television will serve as the production studio for the series.

FX Entertainment President Nick Grad stated, "Very Young Frankenstein blends the creative and satirical spirit that has defined FX comedies for years, drawing inspiration from the beloved film. This offers a completely original perspective on the classic story." Grad noted that with experienced talents like Stefani, Taika, and Garrett, along with Mel Brooks' involvement, they are confident that viewers will enjoy this series.

There is currently limited information about the storyline of the 'Very Young Frankenstein' series. The title suggests that the story will take place before the 1974 film. In the film, Frederick Frankenstein, portrayed by Gene Wilder, returns to Transylvania to participate in his grandfather Victor's experiments to reanimate the dead. Alongside Galifianakis, Wells, and House, the pilot episode will also feature names like Kumail Nanjiani, Nikki Crawford, and Cary Elwes.
