The events in the season finale of Dutton Ranch ended with a shocking death that left viewers stunned. Juan Pablo Raba, who plays the character Joaquin Reyes, argues that Joaquin did not kill Rob-Will Jackson (Jai Courtney). In the season finale, as Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) defend their farm against the attack of Mexican drug lord Mariano Reyes (Raoul Max Trujillo), the moment when Rob-Will is shot by an assailant as he opens the door sparked great curiosity among viewers.

Raba defends Joaquin's innocence, stating that there is no concrete evidence related to the murder. "Without a scene where we see him do it, I can't be sure Joaquin did this," Raba says. The uncertainty surrounding how Rob-Will's murder occurred has become one of the most controversial points of the Dutton Ranch season finale. Raba emphasizes that Rob-Will being shot as he opened the door requires the cold-bloodedness of a professional killer.

Pointing out that Joaquin grew up as a "soft" child, Raba argues that despite being Mariano's son, he does not possess the instinct to be a killer. Raba supports Joaquin's innocence by asking, "First of all, Joaquin is not a professional killer. Secondly, does Mariano really think his son would do something like this?"

Raba expresses that he does not know who the real perpetrator of the murder is and that this information may not be revealed in the Dutton Ranch season finale script. However, he believes that the mysterious atmosphere created around Rob-Will's death presents a great opportunity for Dutton Ranch. Raba highlights the complex nature of the incident by asking, "Did Mariano tell Beulah, 'Handle this or I will'? Did Beulah do this?"
