The Return of Two Iconic Characters in Dexter: Resurrection Confirmed
Screen Rant
Dexter: Resurrection heralds the return of iconic characters. Dexter Morgan (played by Michael C. Hall), our beloved serial killer who eliminates murderers evading the justice system, is preparing to return to the screen with a new season. The Dexter universe has expanded with numerous spin-offs like Dexter: Original Sin, Dexter: New Blood, and most recently, Dexter: Resurrection, making this new series one of the most successful and celebrated productions in the Dexter franchise.
The series' director and producer, Marcos Siega, announced on Instagram that filming has begun on the streets of New York. However, the images he shared may contain hints about the return of some characters that fans have been eagerly anticipating. Siega noted, "We've been working together since the pilot of Dexter: New Blood with Perri," while some pictures in the background provide clues about characters returning in season 2.
One of these images points to David Zayas, who portrayed Angel Batista in the original series. Batista had returned in Resurrection but met a tragic end after discovering that Dexter was the Bay Harbor Butcher in the first season. Angel's return can be interpreted as another manifestation of Dexter's conscience.
In another image, Eric Stonestreet is introduced as Al Walker in Resurrection season 1. Although Al appears to be a happy family man, he secretly leads a life as a sadistic serial killer targeting women. Stonestreet's character's return will not be surprising, considering Dexter's obsession with leaving no clues behind.
Siega has now begun editing for Dexter: Resurrection season 2, episode 1, and fans are expecting more from their favorite serial killer. An official release date has not yet been confirmed, but it is anticipated to air around October 2026. The production team is staying active on social media, sharing new updates, and writer Scott Reynolds is dropping small hints ahead of season 2's release. Season 2 will also introduce new characters to New York City, including Brian Cox portraying the infamous New York Ripper and Dan Stevens as the Five Borough Killer.
