David Tennant, Riz Ahmed, and Jodie Whittaker to Appear in White Rabbit Red Rabbit at the West End
The Hollywood Reporter
White Rabbit Red Rabbit is returning to the West End with guest performers including Iranian-born actors David Tennant, Riz Ahmed, Luke Thompson, and Jodie Whittaker. The play will mark the launch of the new independent production company There & Then, founded by Iranian playwright Nassim Soleimanpour and director Omar Elerian.
Running at the Duchess Theatre from June to November, White Rabbit Red Rabbit will feature a new guest star each Monday night. David Harewood will perform in the opening show (June 8), while Doctor Who star Tennant will take the stage the following week, followed by Bridgerton's Thompson on July 6 and Whittaker on July 13. Riz Ahmed, who stars in Prime Video's Bait series, will perform on September 28. Additionally, Jo Joyner, Asim Chaudhry, and Archie Madekwe from Saltburn are also lined up for select performances.
Structured as a theatrical experiment, this production is based on the principle of a different actor encountering the script for the first time each time. There are no rehearsals, no director, and each night presents a unique, one-time event shaped entirely by that evening's actor's abilities.
Soleimanpour stated, "We are all created within the stories we bravely dare to tell and ultimately give voice to. This adventure, starting with White Rabbit Red Rabbit, has become the foundation of a shared theatrical language resulting from years of collaboration with Omar Elerian. We are excited to hear that our first production will be in collaboration with Nica Burns and Nimax."
Elerian noted that the duo aims to bring "something new and unusual" to the West End. The project promises audiences a unique experience every night with its experimental and interactive nature.
