Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff's Vietnam film cast is complete
The reunion of Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff after Broadway is getting increasingly crowded.
According to Deadline, the Vietnam War thriller Trust the Man has added Kate Mara, Finn Wittrock, Justice Smith, and Victor Garber to its cast. The publication indicates that the newly announced names are among the final additions to the film's lineup.
It has not yet been revealed which characters the new actors will portray.
An investigation will turn into an obsession
Trust the Man centers around an ambitious American army intelligence officer serving during the Vietnam War.
The officer is tasked with a military investigation that has unexplained points in his past, despite being awarded medals. As surveillance and interrogations deepen, the boundaries of the investigation begin to blur, and the relationship between the two men transforms from duty into a dangerous obsession.
At this stage, it has not been officially announced which of Radcliffe or Groff will play the intelligence officer and which will portray the mysterious soldier.
Radcliffe and Groff reunite after Merrily We Roll Along
The most notable actor connection in the project comes from the recent past of the two leads.
Radcliffe and Groff shared the lead role alongside Lindsay Mendez in the critically acclaimed Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along. Both actors reached award nominations in their categories at the 2024 Tony Awards for their performances.
Trust the Man thus takes the duo into a completely different realm from musical comedy: a psychological thriller set amidst war, based on surveillance and interrogation.
Groff's involvement in the project came after the film's initial plan. Initially, Lucas Hedges was set to star opposite Radcliffe, but Hedges left the production due to scheduling conflicts.
A wide cast from Kate Mara to Victor Garber
With the new group of actors, the supporting cast of Trust the Man has also significantly strengthened.
Kate Mara has recently appeared in productions like A Teacher and Class of ’09; Finn Wittrock in American Horror Story and The Big Short; and Justice Smith has stood out in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and I Saw the TV Glow. Victor Garber's filmography includes works such as Argo, Titanic, and Alias.

The creator of Daisy Jones & the Six directs
The screenplay and direction of the film belong to Will Graham.
Graham was one of the creators and showrunners of Amazon's Daisy Jones & the Six series. Among the producers of Trust the Man are Graham, Tonia Davis, Max Linsky, Luke Rodgers, and Alex Scott.
Production took place this summer in New Jersey. Radcliffe and Groff were also spotted during the July shoots in Montclair.
The film's release date and distributor have not yet been announced.
