The Hollywood Reporter
Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie was a guest on Saturday Night Live to present an unreleased new song from Olivia Rodrigo's upcoming album. The 26-year-old actor was applauded by the audience as he took the stage in a denim-on-denim ensemble. Introducing Rodrigo's new track "Begged" in the May 2 episode of SNL, Storrie had also appeared as a host in the episode that aired on February 28 of this year. Rodrigo, the owner of the song "Drop Dead," served as both the host and musical guest for this episode.
Rodrigo performed her new song while sitting on a swing, fitting the album's aesthetic. The official title of the album is "You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love," and it is set to be released on June 12. In the song, the singer expresses, "All I want is to know that you want me like this" and "All I want is to sit quietly and watch a movie on TV." That same night, the three-time Grammy-winning artist also performed another new song, "Drop Dead," introduced by Debbie Harry.
Although Storrie did not participate in Rodrigo's sketches, both made their debut as hosts in SNL's 51st season. During Storrie's hosting experience, his Heated Rivalry co-star Hudson Williams appeared in sketches and helped promote Mumford & Sons. The internet buzzed throughout the week about whether the 25-year-old Canadian actor would accompany Storrie, who he plays as a love interest on screen.
Storrie's appearance is set to excite fans for more than just a television glimpse. The actor has solidified his position in luxury brand ambassadorships with names like Saint Laurent and Tiffany & Co. He appeared on the cover of Hollywood Reporter's Power Stylist special issue alongside his stylist James Yardley. Following his brief stint on SNL, Storrie's visibility in the media continues to rise.
The actor's SNL debut came just a few months after his breakout role in the queer hockey drama Heated Rivalry. The series, which airs on the Canadian platform Crave and is shown in the U.S. on HBO Max, is inspired by Rachel Reid's popular romance novels. Former Letterkenny actor Jacob Tierney created, wrote, and directed the series, which explores the nearly decade-long relationship between Canadian-born Shane Hollander (Williams) and Russian-born Ilya Rozanov (Storrie), turning both actors into stars.
