Another Departure from Chicago Fire: Dermot Mulroney Will Say Goodbye in Season 15
The changes at Firehouse 51 continue. Dermot Mulroney is reported to be leaving the show after appearing in a few more episodes of Chicago Fire's 15th season, which will start on October 7.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Pascal's storyline will conclude at the beginning of the season. It has not been disclosed how many episodes the actor will appear in or how the character will be written off.
Pascal had taken over the firehouse after Boden
Mulroney joined the series in Season 13, which began in 2024, as Battalion Chief Dom Pascal. The character took over the management of Firehouse 51 after Eamonn Walker's regular role as Wallace Boden ended.
Pascal's time on the show will not be long. Mulroney had taken a break in one episode of Season 14 and reappeared in the season finale in May. It is currently unknown whether the character's exit in Season 15 will be connected to the events of the finale, which ended with a major building fire.
Joe Cruz is also saying goodbye to Firehouse 51
Mulroney will not be the only loss in the new season. Joe Miñoso, who has played Joe Cruz since the pilot episode aired in 2012, is also leaving the regular cast in Season 15.
Miñoso is expected to appear in the early episodes of the season to wrap up Cruz's storyline. Thus, another one of the familiar faces of Firehouse 51 over the 14 seasons will be leaving the team.
After these two departures, the remaining main cast members who have stayed since the first season will be Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, and Christian Stolte. It has been confirmed that Kinney will continue in the new season as Kelly Severide, while Miranda Rae Mayo will return as Stella Kidd.
A new era begins behind the camera as well
This season will bring changes not only to the cast but also to the show's creative team. Following Andrea Newman's departure, Victor Teran, who has been part of the production team for a long time, will take over the show's responsibilities.
One of the new faces coming to Firehouse 51 will be Da'Vinchi. Known for All American and BMF, the actor will portray firefighter candidate Marcus Burke, who will be a regular cast member. Burke is described as witty, a bit of a maverick, and someone who may occasionally clash with authority.
Season 15 will premiere on October 7
The 15th season of Chicago Fire will premiere on NBC on October 7, 2026.
The new season will address the aftermath of the dangerous fire from the Season 14 finale while also bidding farewell to Pascal and Cruz. Especially with Miñoso's departure, the number of remaining characters from the Firehouse 51 team established in 2012 will now be quite limited on screen.
