Charlize Theron and director Baltasar Kormákur will collaborate again on a new project following the success of their film "Apex." The duo's action thriller titled "Six Clean Kills" will be produced by Universal Pictures. Kormákur will serve as both director and producer, while Theron plans to join as a producer and star in the lead role.

The screenplay is being written by Stan Parish and will be adapted from his unpublished novel. While details are being kept under wraps, the mysterious atmosphere of the source material suggests the nature of the film. Theron will produce through her Secret Menu production company as part of her first-look deal with Universal Pictures, alongside AJ Dix and Beth Kono. Kormákur will handle production through Blueeyes Productions.

The duo's new project emerged after the completion of "Apex," which achieved great success on Netflix. Starring Taron Egerton, "Apex" garnered strong critical ratings and viewership numbers after its release on April 24 on Netflix. In fact, the increase in viewership during the film's second week showcased how much the audience enjoyed the project.

Icelandic director Kormákur is known in cinema history for works like "101 Reykjavík," "Jar City," and "Everest," and has proven himself by telling stories that explore challenging geographical conditions and emotional intensity. He previously worked with Universal on the survival drama "Beast," which thrilled audiences with Idris Elba's character being pursued by a killer lion. Theron has also acted in three films of the Fast and Furious franchise, which are among Universal's signature films.
