Charlie Cox, the star of the Daredevil: Born Again series, announced that Marvel Studios saved the Disney+ series. The show revolves around Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, returning to his superhero role after a year-long hiatus. When New York City's new mayor, Wilson Fisk, establishes an anti-vigilante task force against superheroes, Murdock must don his costume again and confront him to protect the city.

In an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Cox expressed gratitude on behalf of himself and Vincent D'Onofrio, who plays Kingpin, to Marvel Studios. The actor revealed that when they voiced their concerns about the creative direction of the series before the first season, the company was willing to listen and reconsider the story. As a result, after acknowledging that the initial version wasn't good enough, they restructured the entire season from start to finish.

Cox noted that the original approach aimed to change the tone to differentiate itself from the first series on Netflix. However, the actors realized that the original concept of the Disney+ series would steer the story in a direction that diverged too much. They believed that straying so far from Daredevil: Born Again's Netflix series would eliminate elements that the audience loved. Cox added that the darker themes of the Netflix series were essential to the functioning of the show and its characters, so he felt that the change would be a mistake.

Cox praised Marvel for its willingness to completely change the direction of Daredevil: Born Again at the last minute. Acknowledging that this decision carried significant financial risk, the actor expressed his gratitude for the studio's willingness to take the chance regardless. He also thanked Marvel for taking himself and D'Onofrio's feedback seriously throughout the process.
