Brittany Snow joins the cast of The Housemaid’s Secret

Aug 04, 20262 min read

Brittany Snow's new destination is The Housemaid’s Secret. According to Deadline, the actress has finalized her deal for the film adapted from Freida McFadden's novel of the same name.

It has been revealed that Snow will play a character named Marybeth, but her role in the story remains a mystery for now.

Millie enters the Garrick couple's home this time

In the sequel, Sydney Sweeney will return as Millie Calloway, who is trying to leave her troubled past behind. Millie will start working for the wealthy Garrick couple living in Manhattan, but she won't be allowed to see the lady of the house, Wendy.

Kirsten Dunst will portray the mysterious Wendy Garrick, while Paul Anthony Kelly will play her billionaire husband, Douglas. Millie's investigation into the truth behind a closed door will uncover the secrets kept by her new employers.

It has not been disclosed whether Brittany Snow's character Marybeth is connected to the Garrick family or Millie's past. Therefore, there is not enough information to define her role as a victim, a suspect, or a new employer at this point.

Michele Morrone returns as Enzo

Michele Morrone, who played Enzo, warning Millie about the Winchester family in the first film, will also be featured in the sequel. Thus, The Housemaid’s Secret will maintain its connection to the first installment through Millie and Enzo while transitioning to a new house and community of characters.

The story of the Winchester couple, portrayed by Amanda Seyfried and Brandon Sklenar, was completed in the first film. The shift to the Garrick family at the center of the new production transforms the sequel into a new case where Millie experiences another dark household, rather than a repetition of the same events.

Paul Feig returns to the director's chair

Paul Feig, who directed The Housemaid, will also take the helm for the sequel. The screenplay was penned by Rebecca Sonnenshine, just like in the first adaptation.

Among the producers are Todd Lieberman for Hidden Pictures, Feig and Laura Fischer for Pretty Dangerous Pictures, and Sydney Sweeney for Fifty-Fifty Films. Freida McFadden is also part of the film's production team.

After the first film reached approximately $400 million in worldwide box office, Lionsgate quickly added the second book of McFadden's series to its production schedule.

In theaters December 2027

The Housemaid’s Secret will be released in the US on December 17, 2027. Filming is planned to begin in the later months of 2026.

With Brittany Snow's participation, the main cast of the film has largely taken shape. The next point of curiosity will be which side of the closed door Marybeth stands on.
