Brett Ratner traveled to China on Air Force One with Donald Trump, who has supported his controversial directing career. This trip is aimed at scouting locations for Rush Hour 4, Ratner's first film since facing sexual harassment and misconduct allegations in 2017. Ratner will reunite with the franchise's stars, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, for this film.

Trump departed from Edwards Air Force Base to attend a summit on Tuesday with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing. Ratner's presence on this significant trip is not a surprise to many; he directed a documentary about Melania Trump's preparations for her second inauguration. This documentary was released in January 2023 and grossed $16.4 million.

Ratner's Rush Hour 4 project will be distributed by Paramount Pictures. However, sources from several rival studios have warned that associating with Ratner could bring negative headlines. Nevertheless, Ratner's commitment to this project and the fact that it is a long-awaited film present an important opportunity for him.

While Paramount stated that it is not involved in the financing or production of Rush Hour 4, they directed questions regarding Ratner's trip to China to RatPac Entertainment. The first Rush Hour film was released in 1998 and grossed over $850 million worldwide. Ratner denied claims that he used Melania Trump as a stepping stone to return to Hollywood and emphasized that he is looking forward to making Rush Hour 4.
