Man of Tomorrow is highly anticipated as a sequel to Superman, which launched the DC Universe last summer, and this film will introduce a new hero as well. Among the costumed characters of DC Comics, alongside Superman, we have names like Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion), Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Supergirl (Milly Alcock), and of course, Steel (David Corenswet). Additionally, John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) from the upcoming Lanterns series will also join the film.

However, this new hero had made his debut long before the aforementioned characters. While audiences may have seen this character before, they did not expect to see him again after the unfortunate end of the cinematic universe. As the biologist J.B.S. Haldane noted, "The creator seems to have a passion for bugs."

According to reports, Xolo Maridueña will return as Jaime Reyes, aka Blue Beetle, in Man of Tomorrow. This character was introduced in 2023 with his own solo film, Blue Beetle. The film was released during the final phases of the previous DC cinematic universe and, despite receiving positive reviews from critics, it did not achieve the expected success at the box office. Nevertheless, both Maridueña and Man of Tomorrow's director James Gunn have hinted at the return of Blue Beetle.

Man of Tomorrow is currently in production and is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.
