The main cast of BBC's Hamburg Days, a series focusing on The Beatles' early years through their nightclub performances in 1960s Germany, has been announced. Rhys Mannion will play John Lennon, Ellis Murphy will portray Paul McCartney, Harvey Brett will take on George Harrison, and Louis Landau will depict Stu Sutcliffe, who served as the drummer before Ringo Starr took over.

Produced by W&B Television and Turbine Studios, this six-episode drama expands its cast with Patrick Gilmore (Pete Best), Luna Jordan (Astrid Kirchherr), Casper von Bulow (Klaus Voorman), Laura Tonke (Nielsa Kirchherr), and other actors. The Beatles managed to maintain their dominance in the music industry for a decade starting from 1960.

Hamburg Days is inspired by Klaus Voorman's autobiography and is currently being filmed in Hamburg, Munich, and Liverpool. The series is directed by Christian Schwochow, with Jamie Carragher, producer of Succession, serving as the head writer. The stories in the series center around young musicians from Liverpool meeting artistic figures Klaus Voorman and Astrid Kirchherr in the smoky clubs of Hamburg's red-light district.

Before disbanding in 1970, The Beatles experienced an unrelenting period of popularity. The group holds the title of the best-selling music artist of all time, with approximately 600 million sales worldwide. In December 1980, John Lennon was shot and killed outside his apartment in New York.

The production of Hamburg Days is taking place during the development of Sony's project, which consists of four separate films directed by Sam Mendes, each focusing on a member of The Beatles. In the cinematic version, Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon, Paul Mescal will portray Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn will take on George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan will play Ringo Starr.
