Barry Pepper will face off against Kiefer Sutherland in the Western film The Horseman. Produced by Nomadic Pictures, this feature film will be released through Scripps Networks in early 2027, with cable channel Grit among the distributors. The film centers around an oil boom that began with the rising demand for lighting in America in the late 1800s.

Directed by Rod Lurie and based on a screenplay developed by Barry Pepper, The Horseman tells the story of "a father and husband who has lost his family and forms a deep bond with a young colt." Pepper plays the character "Adam," who, after his loss, begins to live with the colt. The duo develops an extraordinary bond over time, and when they are forcibly separated, Adam risks everything to reunite.

Kiefer Sutherland portrays the villain in the film. Sutherland's character is described as a "wealthy, intellectual, and violent aristocrat," displaying a ruthless demeanor as he pursues land and power. The film also features C. Thomas Howell, Tzi Ma, and Ryan Michelle Bathe.

The Horseman is currently in the filming stage in Canada. The film is produced in collaboration with Peace River Pictures and Scripps Networks. Nomadic Pictures holds the global distribution rights, while Scripps retains the distribution rights in America.
