Born in 1952, Barbara Ling began her career designing sets and lighting for over 200 theater, opera, and music productions. She had her first experience in Hollywood as a lighting designer for the comedy special "The Pee-Wee Herman Show" in 1981. Her career in film production design began in 1986 with David Byrne's "True Stories".
