The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) held a ceremony last week in Los Angeles to present the pop music awards, honoring Grammy-winning musicians Laufey, Amy Allen, and EJAE, along with many other artists. Laufey was awarded the Creative Voice Award by singer-songwriter Suki Waterhouse. This award recognizes association members who have made significant career achievements shaped by their creative spirits and contributions to society, and it has also been given to musicians like Questlove, Wyclef Jean, and Lyle Lovett.

Before receiving the award, Laufey mentioned in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the music industry is a wonderful community of writers, artists, and producers, and he was happy to be honored for this achievement. Among the things he wanted to express at a young age, he thought he wouldn’t have the courage to create a cohesive product by bringing together his thoughts and musical inspirations. The artist, who expressed that he did not consider himself one of those who wrote songs at a young age and felt he didn’t have enough to say, emphasized that this award proved the value of his own voice.

Laufey also talked about the viral music video for "Manwoman." The video features notable names like Hudson Williams, Lola Tung, Alysa Liu, and Megan Skiendiel. The artist explained that he did not see many people like himself on stages or in media while growing up, and he felt proud to be able to create such a video that includes artists from various disciplines. Laufey stated that steps were taken to represent Asian artists in the video, and he expressed that presenting stories from his culture excites him greatly.

Amy Allen won the Songwriter of the Year award for her work with some of the industry's biggest stars. The 34-year-old producer is a preferred name for artists like Sabrina Carpenter and is known for collaborating with Rosé on the hit song "Apt" and working with many artists including Jennie, Dua Lipa, Tate McRae, and Olivia Dean. Allen expressed her excitement about the opportunity to see the writers who inspire her and encourage her to think outside the box and learn in person before the awards.
