Apple TV has established itself as a platform that delivers long-form science fiction stories over the past six years. This success began with For All Mankind, which premiered in 2019. The series is expected to reach an epic conclusion with its sixth and final season in 2027. For All Mankind paved the way for many successful sci-fi productions like Silo, Foundation, Invasion, Severance, and the latest, Pluribus. However, a series set to premiere in 2024, which is not categorized as science fiction, has been regarded as such by viewers.

The series received positive reviews but failed to make a significant impact like Severance and Pluribus. Nevertheless, it is expected to return shortly with its second season. The show was created by Mark Protosevich, who worked on the film I Am Legend starring Will Smith. In this Apple TV production, Colin Farrell stars as a private detective with a passion for classic films. The first season, consisting of eight episodes, features five episodes directed by Oscar-nominated Brazilian director Fernando Meirelles.

This series offers viewers an unconventional experience by blending science fiction and detective stories. With this new project, Apple TV seems to aim at providing audiences with a different perspective. While drawing viewers into a complex plot, the series also delves deeply into the characters' inner conflicts. This is seen as part of Apple TV's effort to increase diversity in the science fiction genre.
