Apple TV has decided to produce a thriller series titled "Disavowed," featuring James Marsden in the lead role. The series will be developed by Apple Studios, Blue Marble Pictures, and producers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Disavowed, which will be Marcum and Holloway's first television series, draws attention as the two directors are among the writers who launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having also worked on Iron Man and Uncharted films.

In the series created from Marcum and Holloway's original idea, Marsden will play the legendary CIA case officer Brad Griffin. The plot revolves around Griffin being "suddenly fired in the midst of a global manhunt for an assassin, who caused the death of a colleague." After being ostracized from the intelligence community and left in disgrace, Brad decides to pursue the $15 million federal bounty placed on the assassin's head.

The project will be executive produced by Tom Spezialy, Marsden, and Blue Marble Pictures' Theresa Kang and Caroline Garity. Marsden's success in the series is bolstered by his appearances in Apple TV's "Your Friends & Neighbors," Hulu's "Paradise," and the first season of Amazon Prime Video's "Jury Duty."

Marsden, a two-time Emmy nominee, has recent works including "Paradise," the "Sonic the Hedgehog" films, and Disney's "Disenchanted." He will also reprise his role as Scott Summers, a.k.a. Cyclops, in the upcoming film "Avengers: Doomsday," set to be released in December. Marsden is represented by CAA and Jackoway Austen, while Marcum and Holloway are also represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
