American Horror Story is officially returning for its 13th season, featuring many long-standing unresolved narratives. After years of speculation, American Horror Story Season 13 is finally happening and is set to be one of the most exciting episodes of the series. The long-running anthology structure confirms that the new season will directly follow the witch-centered storyline first introduced in American Horror Story: Coven and expanded in American Horror Story: Apocalypse. This alone opens the door to revisiting one of the richest mythologies in the series, filled with Supremes, resurrection, and post-apocalyptic threats. The confirmation of Jessica Lange reprising her role as Fiona Goode makes the situation even more thrilling, as this role continues to be one of the most defining performances of the series.

Fiona Goode's return stands out as the biggest news of American Horror Story Season 13. Fiona, portrayed by Jessica Lange, had a definitive arc in Coven: she died and was condemned to an eternal hell alongside the Axeman. This ending was not only poetic but also structurally significant for the mythology. The death of the reigning Supreme allowed for the rise of the next Supreme, solidifying Cordelia's position as the new leader of the coven. Fiona's resurrection raises the question of whether it disrupts the power balance. If her abilities return intact, she could theoretically challenge Cordelia's authority or even the rules governing the Supremes. Alternatively, Fiona could return in a diminished or altered state. Considering both scenarios, the intersection of her resurrection with the succession cycle must be addressed.

Madison Montgomery's fate has been one of the most frustrating unresolved threads in the American Horror Story universe. Madison, played by Emma Roberts, was briefly saved from hell by Michael Langdon's Antichrist powers in Apocalypse. However, Mallory's time travel erased that rescue, sending Madison back to her personal torment in the afterlife. What makes this story particularly intriguing is that it has already been acknowledged within the universe. Mallory has clearly stated her intention to save Madison, but that she could wait. The problem is as logical as it is significant: Madison's body was never brought back after her death in Coven, having been hidden by Spaulding. This likely explains why Cordelia did not resurrect her. Season 13 must address how Madison can return despite these limitations or finally fulfill the long-promised rescue mission to close this gap.

The end of Apocalypse presented one of the series' most chilling twists: Michael Langdon's apparent defeat was not the end of the Antichrist. Instead, the final moments introduced a new child, Devan Campbell, who unsettlingly reflects Michael's origins. When his parents, Timothy and Emily, returned home, they discovered that the child had killed his nanny and that the same Satanist group following Michael was approaching. This revelation raises more questions than it answers. Unlike Michael's lineage, which is clearly connected to the supernatural events of American Horror Story: Murder House, Devan's origins remain unexplained. There is no established connection between Timothy, Emily, and the forces of Hell, which complicates his existence.
