In the new season of Hulu's Vanderpump Villa, Dakota Mortensen's scenes will be cut from the edit. This decision stems from Mortensen, a regular cast member of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, being involved in a domestic violence investigation with co-star Taylor Frankie Paul in Utah. Paul was set to star in ABC's The Bachelorette, but the network canceled the season just three days after a video surfaced regarding a prior incident between Paul and Mortensen, which was scheduled to air on March 22.

Vanderpump Villa follows the staff and guests at Lisa Vanderpump's historic venues in Europe. Mortensen and several members of the "DadTok" group from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives were set to appear as guests in the upcoming season, which is planned to premiere on April 16. However, with this decision, producers are faced with the challenging task of cutting and removing Mortensen's scenes.

Mortensen's appearance was expected to play a significant role, especially considering that he discussed incidents related to filming at Vanderpump Villa in part of the recently aired final season of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" on March 12. Mortensen is also preparing to appear in a YouTube reality series titled "Unwell Winter Games," produced by Alex Cooper's Unwell. Due to Mortensen's playful history with Paul, both this show and Vanderpump Villa have faced backlash regarding Mortensen's involvement.

The incident between Mortensen and Paul in 2023, which led to ABC's cancellation of The Bachelorette, was known to the public long before Paul's selection. In fact, this incident was a significant part of the first season of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives." A video released by TMZ on March 19 shows Paul throwing a barstool at Mortensen, which hit Paul's then five-year-old daughter.

Police in Draper City, Utah, are also investigating another incident involving Paul and Mortensen that occurred in late February. According to a police spokesperson, the investigation includes "accusations from both sides." As a result of this investigation, filming for the fifth season of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" has been halted.
