Triangle was a BBC Television soap opera in the early 1980s, set on a North Sea ferry that sailed from Felixstowe to Gothenburg and from Gothenburg to Amsterdam. An imaginary route between Amsterdam and Felixstowe was created to justify the show's title, although this route was not actually operated by the ferry company. The series ran for three seasons before being canceled, but it is still often remembered as "some of the most mockable British television ever produced." The scripts featured clichéd relationships and stilted dialogue, making the show a target of jokes—especially on Terry Wogan's morning Radio 2 program—which caused some embarrassment for the BBC. In 1992, the BBC aired TV Hell, an evening dedicated to the worst television had to offer, and the first episode of Triangle was included in the lineup. The ferry used in the first season was the Tor Line's MS Tor Scandinavia. In the second and third seasons, it was replaced by the DFDS vessel Dana Anglia, likely due to her less demanding schedule, which allowed for easier on-board filming.
