Baldur's Gate 3 New Endgame Cutscene Finishes Astarion's Story

It's a tight race, but Astarion might have the best character story in Baldur's Gate 3. While the vampire spawn initially comes across as little more than offhandedly heartless, following his narrative arc all the way reveals a complex character shaped by extensive trauma, and voice actor Neil Newbon delivers some fantastic climactic scenes regardless of which path you choose for the character. Baldur's Gate 3 fans, however, are always wanting more, and getting to take Astarion's story a little further is definitively an attractive prospect. While Larian Studios' development of the game has officially winded down, a new concluding scene for Astarion has arrived from a different source. This week, Nexus Mods user HyperspaceTowel uploaded a mod called "Follow Astarion - New Endgame Cutscene," which adds a final moment between the player character and Astarion at the end. For the scene to trigger, the player character needs to physically be on the docks at the end (which ssome choices can prevent from happening), they need to be in a relationship with Astarion, and Astarion needs to still be a vampire spawn. If all of these conditions are met, the Follow Astarion mod will add a scene where the player character, well, follows Astarion. While the mod doesn't add any dialogue (I doubt Astarion's voice actor Neil Newbon is freely available for mod requests), it nonetheless manages to squeeze in an additional heartfelt moment with the vampire spawn. Baldur's Gate 3's epilogue has always been the source of some division, as it's difficult to wrap up a massive, branching game in a way that satisfies every player. Larian Studios ultimately expanded it from its original iteration, explaining that figuring out how to wrap things up without killing the momentum was tough. It's a tricky balancing act, and not every player would want to sit around even longer for extra addendums. With a mod, however, that isn't a concern. Astarion diehards can opt to get an extra moment with the character without dragging out affairs for anyone else. It's no surprise that it's currently trending on Nexus Mods, and I'm sure some players have booted up old save files simply to play out the scene with their custom character. Those looking for more official Astarion content, meanwhile, can look outside of Baldur's Gate 3 to find the vampire spawn in Dungeons & Dragons products like Astarion's Book of Hungers.
